East Bay Ray, co-founder and guitarist of Dead Kennedys, has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. The 67-year-old musician says he intends to continue performing and touring with the band for as long as his health permits, making the announcement significant for fans ahead of upcoming shows.

Ray recently released a solo single, “Area 51”, produced by Paul Leary of the Butthole Surfers. Dead Kennedys have announced West Coast and Mexico dates, including shows in Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Riverside and Mexico City; former frontman Jello Biafra, who suffered a stroke earlier this year, has also begun returning to live performance.
