Deadlock now has ranked—time to say goodbye to my social life and obligations
Valve has introduced a full ranked mode to its multiplayer game Deadlock, adding a separate competitive queue with visible divisions for eligible players. The change is significant because it formalises competitive progression in a game that had previously used hidden matchmaking ratings but no dedicated ranked ladder.
Players need 60 Standard-mode wins to enter ranked play, where they complete eight calibration matches and can initially place as high as Oracle 6. The first season runs until 7 October and includes 11 main ranks, from Initiate to Eternus, with six subranks each; Valve is also tightening penalties for leavers and abuse, while players must still queue with at least three heroes.
