Debenhams Group, the online retailer formerly known as Boohoo, has sold its Sheffield distribution centre to Primark in a £90 million cash deal, reassigning the site's lease and automation equipment to the fashion retailer. The move forms part of the company's ongoing turnaround strategy, allowing it to reduce debt while shifting away from owning large-scale physical infrastructure. It underlines how quickly the Manchester-headquartered group's restructuring is progressing since it rebranded from Boohoo to Debenhams Group.

The £90 million sale covers both the automation assets housed at the Sheffield site and the transfer of its lease to Primark. Debenhams Group said the disposal supports its pivot towards a "capital-lite, stock-lite, cost-lite and cash generative" marketplace-led business model, with management aiming for the marketplace arm to eventually account for well over half of gross merchandise value. The deal was announced on 10 September 2026.
