Deezer’s First Half Revenue Grows on More Direct Subscribers

Billboard · 3 hours ago

Deezer reported first-half 2026 revenues of 268.2 million euros, a marginal improvement over the prior year, whilst achieving a significant turnaround to profitability with net income of 6.7 million euros. The streaming service benefited from gaining nearly half a million direct subscribers in France and other markets, offsetting a substantial decline in partnership-sourced subscribers as major deals concluded. Direct subscriber revenue rose approximately seven percent to 185.2 million euros, demonstrating the strategic value of cultivating direct customer relationships.

The company's subscriber base contracted by 300,000 overall, yet this composition shift towards direct customers—who generate higher per-user revenue—underpinned improved financial performance. Deezer's balance sheet strengthened markedly, with cash reserves rising by more than a third to approximately 100 million euros and debt falling by forty percent, providing resources for growth investments and new ventures including a white-label partnership with Winamp announced in July.

  • Deezer achieved modest revenue growth and returned to profitability in H1 2026 despite losing 300,000 net subscribers
  • Direct subscriber revenue grew ~7% whilst partnership revenue declined, reflecting a strategic shift toward higher-margin direct customers
