Demían Bichir & Danny Ramirez Join U.S.-Mexico Border Doc ‘Desert Angel’ As Executive Producers

Deadline · 4 hours ago

Actors Demían Bichir and Danny Ramirez have joined the documentary *Desert Angel* as executive producers, lending high-profile support to a film examining the human toll of migration along the US-Mexico border. Their involvement is expected to raise the profile of a project that highlights immigration issues both actors have championed personally and professionally, with the film also becoming part of the slate for Ramirez's newly formed production company, Pinstripes.

Directed by Vincent De Luca, *Desert Angel* was filmed over five years across all southern US border states and follows Rafael Larraenza, a volunteer who has spent 30 years rescuing lost migrants, alongside Indira, a mother searching for her missing son. Java Films, which acquired worldwide distribution rights in January, has set a mid-October release following festival screenings at Austin, Palm Springs and Cleveland. Bichir, an Academy Award nominee for *A Better Life*, and Ramirez, known for Marvel's *The Falcon and the Winter Soldier*, both have long-standing ties to immigrant advocacy and Latino storytelling, which producers say will help amplify the film's themes.
