Turning Point USA (TPUSA) is holding a memorial event for its founder, Charlie Kirk, at Utah Valley University (UVU) on 10 September, marking one year since he was killed on the campus. The event has prompted a planned protest from a student group opposed to its being held there, highlighting continuing tension over how the university and campus community should mark the anniversary and TPUSA's role in it.

The "Freedom Built to Last Memorial" begins at 6:30pm local time and will be livestreamed, featuring speeches from radio host Glenn Beck, author Frank Turek and TPUSA officials; UVU has cancelled classes and closed the campus for the day. UVU's Students for a Democratic Society club is planning to protest beforehand and has written an open letter, signed by more than 600 people, condemning the university's decision to host the event and accusing TPUSA of using "a narrative of victimhood" to advance divisive views. UVU President Jon Anderson said the university is not sponsoring the event but is providing security, insisting the institution is remaining "apolitical" and that any group could have booked the venue that day.
