The Los Angeles County Museum of Art has announced that filmmaker Denis Villeneuve and artist Vija Celmins will be honoured at its 2026 Art+Film Gala. The event matters because it recognises two internationally respected figures from film and visual art while also serving as a major fundraiser for LACMA’s cultural and educational work. It highlights the museum’s continuing effort to bring art and cinema closer together within its programming.

The 15th annual gala will take place on 7 November at LACMA and will be chaired by museum trustee Eva Chow and Leonardo DiCaprio. Gucci, the presenting sponsor, has supported the event in that role since 2011. According to LACMA, money raised will support exhibitions, acquisitions and education, with a particular focus on initiatives that place film more centrally in the museum’s curation and public programmes.
