An 18-year-old goalkeeper from Northern Ireland has left his youth club to pursue professional opportunities in continental Europe through an unconventional 2,000-mile van expedition with his father. Milo Beimers departed Glentoran, where he had trained since age 13, and is living in a converted vehicle as he travels through Spain and Portugal completing trials at clubs across multiple professional divisions, plus a separate trial slot in England.

Beimers and his father Kevin, a video game designer, have transformed the journey into both a career initiative and family adventure, with the teenager learning Spanish and absorbing local football culture along the way. Though acknowledging the risks inherent in such an unconventional path, Beimers describes the trip as preferable to passively hoping for offers, noting he retains the option of returning to Northern Ireland if the endeavour proves unsuccessful.
