Diablo 4 On Switch 2: A Very Impressive Port That Supports Mouse Controls

Polygon · 4 hours ago

Polygon has published hands-on impressions of Diablo 4: Age of Hatred Collection, a Nintendo Switch 2 port bundling the base game with its Vessel of Hatred and Lord of Hatred expansions. Tested at BlizzCon 2026, the port notably supports Joy-Con 2 mouse controls at launch, giving the Switch 2 version a feature unavailable on other console editions and fitting given Diablo's PC heritage, though the reviewer could not test this function as the demo kiosk had the controllers locked in handheld mode.

The demo let the reviewer play a quest from the upcoming Season of Hell's Legacy, a 30th-anniversary celebration launching alongside the port, featuring returning villains such as Mephisto and Belial plus Easter egg references to Diablo 2 bosses. The port showed no content compromises compared with the PC version, though it lacks the Nintendo-themed bonuses seen in Diablo 3's Switch release. Docked mode looked notably less crisp than PS5/Xbox Series X versions, running closer to PS4/Xbox One quality, but performance stayed stable with fast loading; handheld mode impressed most, running smoothly despite small on-screen text. Diablo 4: Age of Hatred Collection launches on Switch 2 on 14 September, alongside Season of Hell's Legacy.

  • Diablo 4 Switch 2 port launches 14 September with mouse control support
  • Handheld mode impressed reviewer more than docked mode
  • Docked visuals resemble PS4/Xbox One, not PS5/Series X quality
