Mexican actor, director and producer Diego Luna will be honoured at the 32nd Sarajevo Film Festival, receiving the Honorary Heart of Sarajevo in recognition of his career and contribution to cinema. The festival, running from 14 to 21 August, will also screen "Ashes", Luna's latest film as director, which premiered earlier this year at Cannes, and he will give a masterclass to attendees. The tribute underscores Luna's standing as one of Latin America's most versatile screen talents, spanning both Hollywood blockbusters and intimate Spanish-language dramas.

Festival director Jovan Marjanović cited Luna's breakout in "Y tu mamá también" 25 years ago as the moment his talent first became apparent, while Luna said he was honoured and had long wanted to visit the festival. His career highlights include "Star Wars: Rogue One", the Disney+ series "Andor" (which earned him Golden Globe and Critics' Choice nominations and drew multiple Emmy nominations), "Narcos: México", and 2025's "Kiss of the Spider Woman" alongside Jennifer Lopez, as well as producing and starring in Hulu's "La Máquina" with Gael García Bernal.
