Family with children walk out of Hatfield Turkish restaurant without paying £160 bill

Daily Mail · 9 hours ago

A family of "dine and dashers" was filmed leaving a Turkish restaurant in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, without paying a £160 bill. The group of five adults and four children ate a sharing platter, lamb ribs and drinks at Turkish Kitchen before slipping out in small groups and driving off in a waiting van. The incident, captured on CCTV and shared online by the restaurant, highlights the financial hit such walkouts can inflict on small hospitality businesses.

General manager Klaus Ademi said the group seemed "normal" and did not over-order, and told staff they would settle up "in a minute". Instead, they left the table in stages until a single diner in a blue t-shirt remained, before he too walked out and got into a white van parked directly outside. Ademi, who described himself as angry, posted the footage on Facebook to warn other businesses and urge the family to return and pay, and said he intended to report them to the police.
