Disney+ has commissioned Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu, a new Aardman-made stop-motion series, under a global distribution agreement with The Pokémon Company International. The programme will air on Disney XD and stream exclusively on Disney+ in 2027, giving Disney a new family-focused Pokémon title that combines the franchise with Aardman’s distinctive animation style.

The deal’s first release is Pokémon the Series: The Beginning, the classic animated series following Ash and Pikachu, which is already airing on Disney XD and available on Disney+. The new series follows Sirfetch’d and Pichu on mishap-filled missions across the Galar region; it is directed by Tom Parkinson, with Aardman creative leads Nat McKay and James Young, and was announced at Pokémon XP.
