Disney Plus has confirmed a Halloween 2027 release date for its in-development series adaptation of Afterlife with Archie, a horror spin-off of the classic Archie comics. The show is being produced by Warner Bros. Television alongside Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Greg Berlanti, the team behind the earlier Archie adaptations Riverdale and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, giving the project significant creative pedigree and continuity with those previous hits.

The series adapts Aguirre-Sacasa and artist Francesco Francavilla's 2013 comic, which imagines Riverdale's residents battling a zombie apocalypse accidentally unleashed by Sabrina's magic, while still keeping the franchise's trademark teen drama and romance. Aguirre-Sacasa called it "the ultimate dream project," noting he has also returned to writing the original 10-issue comic, with two further instalments completed but not yet published. No cast has been announced, though the announcement is likely to fuel speculation about a return for Riverdale's original stars.
