Disney+ Sets Japanese Horror Anthology Series ‘Night Tales Club’ With Kiyoshi Kurosawa, Takayuki Yamada

The Hollywood Reporter ·

Disney+ has announced Night Tales Club, a six-part Japanese supernatural mystery anthology due to premiere in January 2027. Starring Takayuki Yamada and featuring episodes directed by six filmmakers, including Kiyoshi Kurosawa, the series is part of the streamer’s expanding international programme.

Yamada plays Hojo, an entrepreneur who believes supernatural events point to a wider conspiracy. He offers people 20 million yen in gold, about $130,000, to share their strange experiences and evidence; each episode adapts a story by horror writer Ichi Sawamura. The announcement comes as Disney plans to roughly triple its annual output of international original series over the next three years, from around 60 to 70 shows this year.
