Divinity fan discovers massive secret hiding in the game’s trailer

Polygon · 4 hours ago

A content creator claims to have decoded a hidden message in the reveal trailer for Divinity, Larian Studios' next game after Baldur's Gate 3. The runes engraved on a chained, injured man's crown, shown in more detail in a recent behind-the-scenes clip, are said to read "chaos is coming," fuelling fan theories about the game's direction.

The trailer, first shown at The Game Awards 2025 following a mysterious desert statue tease, has so far been the only footage released. Creator WolfheartFPS identified the crown's symbols as Elder Futhark, an ancient runic alphabet, after visual effects studio Unit Image posted a detailed behind-the-scenes video of the character model on LinkedIn. The finding ties into Divinity's lore, where the Lord of Chaos, creator of demons, is trapped in Tartarus, supporting theories that chaos will be a central theme. No release date has been confirmed, though Larian's past titles suggest an early access launch is likely.
