DJ Pikachu: Pokémon Goes EDM With Lasers, Battles and Marshmello in 30th Anniversary Concert at Intuit Dome
Pokémon marked its 30th anniversary with Pokémon Night Out, an electronic dance music concert at Los Angeles’ Intuit Dome featuring Marshmello and Alison Wonderland. The event brought the franchise’s characters and music together with the lasers, pyrotechnics and visuals of an EDM show, reflecting what organisers see as shared values of community and inclusion.
Alison Wonderland opened with a countdown of Pokémon and remixes of the television theme and Lavender Town music, while a neon-lit Pikachu joined her on stage. Marshmello’s set featured Pokémon flying and battling across a video wall, alongside scenes with characters including Corviknight, Toxtricity, Lucario and Greninja. The concert was livestreamed, and a second show is scheduled for London’s O2 Arena on 10 November.
