Deadline's Doc Talk podcast features director Sara Dosa discussing her documentary "Time and Water," an elegy for Iceland's vanishing glaciers and a widely tipped contender for this year's Oscars. The film draws on the writings and family history of Icelandic poet Andri Snær Magnason, who was previously commissioned to memorialise the country's first lost glacier, Okjökull, and explores how a nation's identity and folklore are affected when the ice that shaped them disappears.

The film, from National Geographic Documentary Films, premieres on the National Geographic channel this Friday and on Disney+ the following Saturday, having already screened at festivals including Sundance, SXSW, Hot Docs and CPH:DOX. Dosa, an Oscar nominee for her previous film "Fire of Love," is joined on the podcast, hosted by John Ridley and Matt Carey, to discuss meeting Magnason and how wildfire smoke further inspired the project; the film also incorporates rímur, traditional Icelandic rhyming poems, and is produced by Oscar winner Shane Boris alongside Elijah Stevens and Jameka Autry.
