Doctor Who actor Noel Clarke has now been formally charged by the Crown Prosecution Service with sexual offences against five women, marking a significant step from the ongoing police investigation into a live criminal case. He faces two counts of sexual assault, three of voyeurism and one of exposure, relating to alleged incidents between 2007 and 2016, and is due before Westminster Magistrates' Court on 21 October. The charges follow a Metropolitan Police investigation launched in September 2025 and come after Clarke's career and finances had already been badly damaged by earlier misconduct allegations.

Clarke, 50, of Kensington, west London, was declared bankrupt in December after losing a legal battle against The Guardian's publisher, which he had accused of falsely reporting sexual misconduct claims against him; he was ordered to pay at least £3 million in legal costs. The CPS's Bethan David said prosecutors had found sufficient evidence and that pursuing the case was in the public interest, while the Met's Detective Superintendent Mike Cagney confirmed the five women are receiving support from specially trained officers. Clarke, best known for playing Mickey Smith in Doctor Who from 2005 to 2010, saw his acting, writing and directing career collapse in 2021 after a Guardian investigation featured multiple women's misconduct accounts; he retains the right to a fair trial.

Doctor Who actor Noel Clarke, best known for playing Mickey Smith in the show from 2005 to 2010, has been charged by prosecutors with sexual offences against five women, covering alleged incidents said to have taken place between 2007 and 2016. The charges include sexual assault, voyeurism and exposure, and follow a Metropolitan Police investigation that began in September 2025. He is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court in October.

This case follows years of controversy for Clarke. In 2021, a Guardian investigation reported allegations of misconduct from numerous women, which led to his acting, writing and directing career largely collapsing. He later sued the newspaper's publisher over its reporting but lost, a defeat that left him declared bankrupt and liable for millions of pounds in legal costs.

The charges mark the first time these matters have moved from press reporting and civil litigation into the criminal justice system, meaning the allegations will now be tested in court. As with any criminal case, Clarke is entitled to a fair trial, and the charges represent allegations that have not yet been proven.
