DOJ sues ticket broker REPS, alleging it made $120.8M profit reselling tickets to Beyoncé concerts and other shows after bypassing limits
The US Department of Justice has sued ticket broker REPS & Company and three executives, alleging they evaded ticket purchase limits to buy tickets in bulk for resale. The case matters because the government says this conduct broke federal laws designed to prevent automated or other circumvention of ticket limits.
The complaint alleges REPS bought more than 18.5 million tickets to at least 83,000 events from January 2022 to October 2025, spending over $1.3 billion and making at least $120.8 million in resale profit. It cites a Beyoncé concert where the company allegedly used at least 1,300 accounts to obtain 7,624 tickets, earning about $833,323 in profit. REPS and its executives are accused of using accounts in other people’s names, virtual cards, SIM cards and proxy services; these are allegations in a lawsuit, not findings of liability.
