Dominic Fike has released his mixtape "Rocket" in 2025, a project whose title stems from a word he had carried in his mind for years, eventually naming his son after it too. The 12-track collection brings together previously unreleased songs, fan favourites and long-requested demos ahead of his next studio album, marking a milestone in an artistic journey that began with 2018's breakthrough EP "Don't Forget About Me, Demos."

The word "Rocket" first took on significance in 2017 while Fike was under house arrest following a charge of battery against a police officer, when he likened it to an escape vehicle from confinement. He later found unexpected resonance with the term in Alan Watts's book "The Book: On the Taboo Against Knowing Who You Are," which describes rockets as symbols of American conquest, affirming a meaning he had already attached to the word. Born in Naples, Florida, in 1995, Fike is of Filipino descent through his mother, a heritage that has grown increasingly significant to fans in the Philippines as his career has expanded internationally, alongside a body of work including "What Could Possibly Go Wrong" (2020) and "Sunburn" (2023).
