Donald Trump Sued By Media Groups Over Sale Of Faster Access To Truth Social Posts
The Freedom of the Press Foundation and The Intercept Media have sued Donald Trump over a Truth Social service that sells quicker access to his posts, including potentially market-moving government announcements. They argue that allowing paying customers to receive such information first is unconstitutional and lets the President profit personally from official communications.
The federal lawsuit seeks to stop exclusive government information being posted through the paid service and to have the arrangement declared unconstitutional. The service, Trump API, is marketed to institutional customers at $60,000 to $100,000 a month; Trump Media says it has signed more than 10 agreements, mainly with high-frequency trading firms. The plaintiffs cite First and Fifth Amendment concerns, while the White House and Trump Media had not commented when the article was published.
- Media groups challenge paid early access to Trump’s Truth Social posts.
- Service costs up to $100,000 monthly.
- Lawsuit alleges unconstitutional sale of government information.
