Donald Trump's childhood home in Jamaica Estates, Queens, has sold for $1.93 million (£1.53 million), following a costly renovation that transformed the once dilapidated property into a modern family home. The five-bedroom Tudor-style house, built by Trump's father Fred in 1940, had fallen into disrepair over recent years, blighted by feral cats, flooding and structural problems, and was widely regarded by neighbours as a local eyesore.

The sale, agreed in July and confirmed by estate agent Joe Zhu of RE/MAX Edge, represents a significant profit for developer Tommy Lin, who bought the run-down property for $835,000 last year and spent a further $500,000 over eight months restoring it, adding a modern kitchen and upgraded bathrooms. Despite the refurbishment, the property's connection to the US president remained a key selling point, with strong buyer interest reported. The identity of the new owner has not been disclosed, and the house has passed through several hands since 2016, including a period as an Airbnb rental under a mysterious LLC linked to a New York lawyer.
