Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said an object believed to be a Russian missile came down in eastern Poland during a large overnight Russian assault on Ukraine. The incident matters because it appears to represent another breach of Polish—and therefore NATO—airspace, heightening concern that the war could spill beyond Ukraine’s borders, although Tusk said there was no reason to believe Poland itself was the intended target.

Polish authorities located a probable impact site in a field in Lublin province after the object disappeared from radar, with no reported injuries. Tusk said initial indications pointed to a Russian Kh-101 cruise missile, but stressed that investigators were still confirming its type and origin; Russia launched more than 70 missiles and over 280 drones at Ukraine in the same attack.
