Doncaster Rovers have signed striker James Collins on loan from Lincoln City until January, as he continues his recovery from knee surgery. The 35-year-old has been sidelined since December 2025 after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury that disrupted his contribution to Lincoln's League One promotion-winning season.

Lincoln have sent the former Republic of Ireland international to Doncaster to build up his fitness, with a return to action expected in November. Doncaster manager Grant McCann said the club would need to "be patient" but described Collins, who has scored more than 230 career goals and previously played for Derby County, Luton Town and Cardiff City, as a "huge asset". McCann added that the two clubs have a good relationship and have been in close contact to ensure a smooth handover of his rehabilitation.
