Scrapyard dismantles 64 accident-damaged Metropolitan Police cars in Oxfordshire
Around 64 damaged Metropolitan Police cars have been stacked four vehicles high at a scrapyard in Thame, Oxfordshire. The vehicles, worth approximately £2.5 million when new, are being dismantled because they were involved in accidents and could not be repaired.
ASM Auto Recycling operates across a 20-acre site and also handles police vans and other written-off vehicles. Its machinery separates the components for recycling, with the company claiming to recycle 95 per cent of the material from each scrapped car; the Metropolitan Police has been approached for comment.
