Dragon Age’s former producer had envisioned a ‘Champions Edition’ equivalent to Mass Effect’s Legendary Edition, but he doesn’t think it will happen anymore: ‘There are basically no companies that could help you’

Former Dragon Age producer Mark Darrah said he once imagined a “Champions Edition” collection that would remaster the series in the manner of Mass Effect Legendary Edition. He now believes the prospect is unlikely, reflecting the technical and commercial difficulty of revisiting the older games.

Darrah said there are very few companies capable of carrying out such a project, particularly because the Dragon Age titles were built using different technology and would require substantial work to modernise. Unlike Mass Effect’s trilogy, which could be consolidated more readily, Dragon Age’s varied engines and development history make a unified re-release harder to deliver.

  • A Dragon Age remaster collection was once envisaged.
  • Former producer Mark Darrah doubts it will happen.
  • Different game engines make the project especially difficult.
