Square Enix's role-playing title Dragon Quest XI S is launching on the Switch 2 this September, with the Nintendo eShop now showing a download footprint of 23.4 gigabytes—roughly two-thirds larger than the original Switch release at 14 gigabytes. The port will be priced at $39.99 in North America and £34.99 in the UK, featuring both performance-oriented and graphics-enhanced display configurations.

The company has ruled out offering an upgrade mechanism for existing Switch purchasers and confirmed that game saves will not be compatible across platforms. Some players have expressed frustration with this approach, questioning whether a straightforward port of the Switch version—rather than a reworked adaptation closer to the PlayStation 4 original's visual fidelity—justifies the full retail price.
