A man suspected of driving under the influence allegedly crashed his car in Lakeland, Florida, then fled on foot into an alligator-infested swamp while carrying his two young children. Isaac Kinsey, 27, was tracked down using police drone footage after officers arrived at the crash scene and found two empty child car seats, prompting a frantic search. The incident has drawn outrage from local police, who say Kinsey's actions put his children's lives at serious risk.

Kinsey, 27, reportedly ploughed through a road-closure sign on Highway 33 at around 4am on 9 September before fleeing the scene. Drone footage showed him struggling through the marsh carrying a two-year-old and a 10-month-old baby, falling repeatedly and at one point leaving the toddler behind as he pressed on with the infant. Officers eventually reached the family and recovered both children, who were treated at hospital and released unharmed. Kinsey, who police say admitted to being intoxicated and was driving on a suspended licence, now faces three felony charges and eight misdemeanour offences, including two counts of negligent child abuse causing great bodily harm.
