A video captured floodwaters bursting through the glass doors of an off-campus student house in Glassboro, New Jersey, sending a door panel flying across the room as several feet of water surged into the lower level. The incident occurred on 27 August after severe storms brought major flash flooding to the area, just as Rowan University students were preparing to move into housing ahead of the new academic year in September. The footage highlights the sudden and destructive force of flash flooding, which caused extensive damage to the property and disrupted preparations for the start of term.

Resident Tommy Scirrotto said the flooding destroyed the entire lower level of the home, flooding four bedrooms and causing substantial damage, according to a GoFundMe appeal he posted. Photos showed furniture, beds and rugs completely submerged, despite residents' attempts to hold back the water with towels and makeshift laundry barriers. Rowan University also reported that floodwater had infiltrated several campus buildings and urged caution, while the National Weather Service recorded between four and six inches of rainfall across the wider southwestern New Jersey region that day.
