Dramatic video shows SWAT vehicle ramming tractor during tense Oregon standoff

Fox News · 8 hours ago

A Clackamas County SWAT team in Oregon rammed an armoured vehicle into a tractor to end a tense standoff with a man accused of shooting at tree workers near his rural home south of Portland on Saturday. Erik Gordon Shunn, 53, allegedly fired more than 200 rounds during the incident, including a barrage aimed directly at a police drone, before officers used the vehicle collision to trap him against his house and take him into custody.

According to the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called after Shunn allegedly opened fire on arborists hired to fell trees nearby, with witnesses estimating around 20 shots were fired at the workers. Drones spotted Shunn using a tractor to knock down trees, apparently to build a barricade, and SWAT struck the vehicle only once he had become separated from his rifle, judging it the safest chance to apprehend him. He was treated at the scene and taken to hospital for evaluation; no injuries were reported among neighbours, workers or his mother, who was also present. Shunn now faces multiple charges, including attempted murder and attempted assault, and is being held without bail.
