A BBC drone video shows the extensive damage caused by wildfires that swept through Spokane, Washington, and surrounding areas, burning around 10,000 acres and destroying more than 900 homes. Strong winds fanned the flames rapidly, forcing more than 64,000 residents to evacuate as the blaze became the highest firefighting priority in the United States.

The fires struck amid widespread drought and a wider spate of wildfires across the Pacific Northwest in early August. Despite the scale of destruction, no serious injuries or deaths were reported in Spokane.
