‘Dungeons & Dragons’ x ‘World of Warcraft’ Crossover Hit With Major Delay

Collider ·

Some North American game stores may receive physical products from the Dungeons & Dragons and World of Warcraft crossover after its 3 November Early Access date, following unexpected shipping delays. The notice affects some pre-orders and could reduce the early access period for customers buying through those stores, while the global release date remains unchanged.

Eight products are potentially affected, including the gameplay expansion, Dungeon Master’s Screen, adventure map pack, Murloc Mini and Horde and Alliance miniature sets. Wizards says the core books and Murloc Mini may arrive only a few days late at some shops, while the miniature sets are expected around 17 November, the global release date. Many retailers are still expected to receive products on time, and the shipping issue has not been explained in detail.

In short

  • Some North American stores may miss the 3 November Early Access date.
  • The Horde and Alliance miniature sets are expected around 17 November.
  • The global release date remains unchanged.

Explained simply

Dungeons & Dragons is a tabletop role-playing game in which players create characters and take part in a story guided by a Dungeon Master. World of Warcraft is an online game set in the fantasy world of Azeroth; this crossover adapts that setting and its characters for D&D, with books and accessories for tabletop play.

Wizards of the Coast publishes D&D, while Blizzard Entertainment makes World of Warcraft. The crossover’s physical products include a gameplay expansion, maps, a screen for the Dungeon Master and miniature figures, which players and shops can use during games.

The products have a planned early access period through some game shops before their wider release. That timing matters to customers who pre-ordered from those shops and hoped to get the products early, as well as to retailers planning sales and play events.
