Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is branching into music with the release of "Your Dad," a tender ballad dedicated to his three daughters. The song appears on the newly released *Moana: Voices Across the Ocean* album, a companion record to the recent live-action Moana remake, marking a notable departure for the actor and former wrestler better known for action films and family blockbusters.

Johnson co-wrote the track with Iam Tongi, the 2023 American Idol winner, after the idea emerged while assembling the companion album with his wife Lauren and fellow producers Tiana and Kayla. Speaking to Rolling Stone, Johnson explained that Tongi originally brought him a deeply personal song written to the children he hopes to have one day, about his own late father; Johnson said the song moved him to tears, though he initially felt he wasn't ready to sing something written from that perspective himself. He cited Polynesian family traditions of singing and ceremonial dance, along with childhood influences such as Sam Cooke, Elvis and Willie Nelson, as shaping his approach to the track, which he has previously touched on musically through cameos including Wyclef Jean's "It Doesn't Matter" and the original animated Moana's "You're Welcome."
