EA Acquisition by Saudi Arabia’s PIF, Silver Lake, and Jared Kushner’s Affinity Partners Is Now Complete

IGN · 6 hours ago

Electronic Arts has completed its $55 billion acquisition by a private investor consortium comprising Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, Silver Lake, and Jared Kushner's Affinity Partners, closing a deal first announced in September 2025 and approved in December that year. It stands as the largest deal of its kind in gaming history, marking a major shift for EA as it moves from public ownership into private hands under investors who say they intend to back the company's long-term growth.

According to earlier reporting from the Financial Times, the deal's financial logic rests partly on the expectation that artificial intelligence will significantly cut EA's operating costs, helping the consortium manage the substantial debt taken on to fund the buyout. The completion follows a strong fiscal 2026 for EA, buoyed by the successful launch of Battlefield 6, which helped the company navigate an "unpredictable external environment" and contributed to CEO Andrew Wilson receiving an $8 million pay rise, even as layoffs hit Battlefield development teams.
