EA CEO Got A Huge Pay Increase While Company Laid Off Devs

GameSpot · 3 hours ago

An investor group criticised Electronic Arts’ executive pay practices after CEO Andrew Wilson received a reported $4 million bonus following a year in which the company cut around 4% of its workforce. The group urged shareholders to reject EA’s executive-compensation proposal, arguing that multimillion-dollar bonuses and equity awards were inappropriate after layoffs and insufficiently justified.

The criticism focused on overlapping special equity awards for senior executives, alongside their regular annual grants. It cited awards including $10 million for chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen and $7 million for chief technology officer Kenneth Moss in 2017, with further special awards in 2019; EA’s share price had risen by almost 70% since December 2018. Wilson and other executives had previously declined bonuses for the 2019 financial year, when EA’s revenue fell to $4.95 billion from $5.15 billion.
