EA Is Now Owned By Saudi Arabia’s PIF, Silver Lake, And Affinity Partners
Electronic Arts has completed its acquisition by a consortium comprising Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), Silver Lake, and Affinity Partners, following regulatory approvals in July. The deal, first announced in September 2025, takes EA private and ends its time as a publicly traded company, marking one of the largest buyouts in the games industry and adding to Saudi Arabia's growing portfolio of stakes in major gaming firms.
Under the agreement, PIF holds 93.4% of EA, Silver Lake 5.5%, and Affinity Partners 1.1%; the latter was founded in 2021 by Jared Kushner, son-in-law of US president Donald Trump. Shareholders will receive $210 in cash per share, and EA stock has stopped trading and will be delisted from the NASDAQ. Executives from all parties framed the deal as a long-term investment in EA's franchises and technology, including AI-driven game development, though Saudi Arabia's broader investment spree — which also includes stakes in Nintendo, Capcom, Take-Two, SNK and Scopely — continues to draw criticism over the kingdom's human rights record.
