Transport for London is trialling a "calm space" pod at Ealing Broadway Tube station, designed to give neurodivergent passengers a quiet, soundproofed area to pause and recover during overwhelming journeys. The initiative, run in partnership with charities NOOK and Autistica, forms part of Mayor Sadiq Khan's Equity in Motion plan launched in 2024 to make London's transport network fairer and more accessible.

The Ealing Broadway pod sits beyond the ticket barriers, features a calming colour palette and woodland-scene decoration, and is large enough to accommodate buggies, assistance animals and mobility aids. It will run until 2 October, with a similar pod set to appear at the Transport Museum in Covent Garden for eight weeks this autumn, alongside new accessible toilets planned for stations including Morden, Colindale and Northolt. The move comes as TfL faces separate criticism over rising crime on the network, with reported offences up 46% since the pandemic and passenger journeys falling 2.4% in the second half of 2025.
