Jamie Vardy has signed for Burnley in the Championship on a free transfer, marking his return to English football after a season with Italy's Cremonese. The move ends speculation about a possible reunion with Leicester City, the club he spent 13 years with, winning the Premier League in 2016 and the FA Cup in 2021, after Vardy himself ruled that out over the summer.

Vardy, who turns 40 in January, has signed a contract with Burnley until the end of the season, joining a side currently bottom of the Championship and yet to win any of their opening five league games under manager Nicky Hayen. His move comes despite a growing media profile, including his popular podcast, an ITV reality series with wife Rebekah, and a Netflix documentary, with Vardy insisting his priority remains playing on.
