Paramount Pictures has released the first trailer for “Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol”, a dark new adaptation of Charles Dickens’ story starring Johnny Depp as Ebenezer Scrooge. Directed by horror filmmaker Ti West, the film presents Scrooge as a hostile, snowball-throwing miser pursued by frightening Christmas spirits, and marks Depp’s first major Hollywood role since his widely publicised 2022 defamation trial involving Amber Heard.
The cast also includes Andrea Riseborough, Tramell Tillman, Ian McKellen, Rupert Grint and Daisy Ridley. West said earlier adaptations of “A Christmas Carol” were among his first encounters with horror; the film is scheduled for a cinema release on 13 November.
