EcoFlow has unveiled its fourth-generation River series, shrinking its portable power stations while boosting their capacity, aimed at campers, photographers and anyone wanting backup power in the field. The move matters because it pushes the trend of ultra-compact power stations further, offering more stored energy in a smaller, lighter package than comparable rivals, thanks to a new energy-dense design and safer LFP battery chemistry.

The River 260 Gen4 holds 256Wh and outputs up to 300W via a single AC jack, while the larger River 520 Gen4 stores 512Wh and delivers up to 500W across two AC jacks; both have four USB ports and a bidirectional 140W USB-C PD3.1 port that allows direct charging without a separate power brick. Both models can act as an uninterruptible power supply with a sub-10ms cutover time, and EcoFlow says it has reduced energy losses from idle DC-to-AC conversion, extending usable charge. The River 260 Gen4 is due in Europe in the fourth quarter of 2026, with the River 520 Gen4 following in the first quarter of 2027; pricing has not yet been announced.
