Ed Sheeran fined for failing to insure Aston Martin
The singer was prosecuted this week at Bradford Magistrates' Court for an insurance lapse on an Aston Martin kept in a Durham workshop since 2021. The car was undergoing restoration and conversion to electric power, and Sheeran maintained it never posed a public risk, having remained inoperable and off-road for the entire period in question. He believed the workshop's coverage applied and apologised for the administrative oversight.
The court ordered Sheeran to pay £1,032 in fines and costs combined. He asserted he would have immediately settled an earlier out-of-court penalty had he been notified, and subsequently registered the vehicle as off-road in February. His conviction aligned with a broader pattern of similar enforcement that week, with over 1,400 other people convicted of failing to maintain vehicle insurance across England and Wales during the same period.
