Ed Sheeran has secured planning permission to build a second large wildlife pond, this time at his new £1.1 million recording studio complex in Suffolk, dubbed "Sheeranville II". The approval has raised concerns among residents, given that a similar pond at Sheeran's nearby family estate was previously used by the singer for swimming and diving despite being approved on the basis it would serve as a nature habitat rather than a leisure feature.

The new pond, at the 17th-century Tannington Lodge farmhouse site, spans more than 9,000 square feet, comparable to an Olympic swimming pool. At his original Sheeranville estate, a £500,000 kidney-shaped pond approved in 2016 for conservation purposes was later fitted with steps, a jetty and a caravan changing room, prompting a council investigation; Sheeran eventually admitted using it as a swimming pool and was granted retrospective permission for recreational use, drawing complaints from neighbours who felt he acted as he pleased.
