Colombian producer Federico Durán has launched El Sol Ermitaño at the San Sebastián Film Festival, where its first major project, “Lovers Go Home!”, is featured in the WIP LatAm programme. Directed by Juan Sebastián Mesa, the drama explores an online relationship between a Medellín webcam model and a US war veteran, highlighting the company’s ambition to connect local Colombian filmmaking with international co-production and distribution.

The film stars Ángela Cano and Dave Dewar and is being made by companies from Colombia, Spain, France and Canada, with support from several national and international film funds. El Sol Ermitaño is also developing a broader slate, including Jaime Osorio Márquez’s posthumous supernatural thriller “The Awakening”, Cordelia Alegre’s debut “La Unión”, and further projects with Ibero-American creators.
