Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition Gameplay Shows Off Switch 2 Version

Polygon · 4 hours ago

Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition, the Nintendo Switch 2 port of FromSoftware's acclaimed open-world action-RPG, has been shown running smoothly in new official gameplay footage ahead of its 28 August release. The port was delayed from its original 2025 target after a poor showing at last summer's Gamescom prompted concerns about performance, but Bandai Namco has since given developers extra time to refine it, and the latest footage suggests the extra work has paid off.

A gameplay showcase video released on Tuesday combines a brief introduction to Elden Ring with footage demonstrating handheld performance on Switch 2, though it offers little new detail on the edition's prebuilt starting classes. Japanese outlet Denfaminico Gamer has also published around nine minutes of off-screen gameplay in both docked and handheld modes, showing what looks like a highly playable version. The port, first announced in April 2025 alongside other Switch 2 rereleases such as Cyberpunk 2077 and Hogwarts Legacy, will launch on 28 August, with the Tarnished Edition's bonus content also available as paid DLC on other platforms.
