Daily Mail · 1 hour ago

Police in Hoover, Alabama, have arrested a 30-year-old woman on a murder charge after a 70-year-old woman was found dead in a community swimming pool. Anastasia Tsefia Sudarsana, described by police as an acquaintance of the victim, was taken into custody following an investigation that treated the death as a homicide after evidence indicated a struggle had taken place shortly before the victim died. The case is being handled by local police alongside the Jefferson County authorities.

The unnamed victim was found unresponsive in the pool on Little Valley Road at 9.32pm on 3 September, after emergency services were called; attempts to revive her were unsuccessful and she was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not disclosed a motive or detailed the nature of the relationship between the two women, and the exact cause and manner of death are still to be confirmed by the Jefferson County Coroner and Medical Examiner's Office. Evidence has been passed to the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office, and Sudarsana is being held without bond at Jefferson County Jail.
