German creator group and boy band the Elevator Boys have released a trailer for their debut feature film, “Back to the 90s”, ahead of its Prime Video premiere on 21 August. The German-language time-travel comedy follows the five friends as their planned musical breakthrough is threatened, before an elevator sends them back to 1995; it marks a further move from social-media success into film.

The cast includes the group’s Julien Brown, Tim Schäcker, Luis Freitag, Jacob Rott and Bene Schulz, alongside Felicitas Woll and others. Gary Barlow wrote the title track, “1995”, while Facundo Scalerandi directs a script by Juliana Lima Dehne; the film is produced by W&B Television with Amazon MGM Studios Germany. Founded through viral elevator videos in 2021, the group now has 48 million social-media followers.
