Country singer Ella Langley has set a new chart milestone, with her song "Choosin' Texas" tying Harry Styles's "As It Was" for the longest run atop the Billboard Hot 100 by a non-holiday song, and becoming the longest-reigning Number One by a woman outside of festive releases. The achievement puts Langley ahead of long-standing benchmarks set by Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey, and comes as the track continues to dominate the summer charts, with commentators dubbing it the unofficial "Song of the Summer".

"Choosin' Texas" has now spent 15 weeks at Number One, surpassing Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You" and Mariah Carey's "We Belong Together". It remains seven weeks short of Carey's all-time record of 22 weeks held by "All I Want for Christmas Is You", though with roughly 14 weeks before that seasonal song could realistically return to the charts, Langley has a window to chase records held by Morgan Wallen's "Last Night" (16 weeks) and Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road" (19 weeks). She currently leads the chart ahead of Taylor Swift's "I Knew It, I Knew You" and Stella Lefty's fast-climbing "Boston", while continuing her Dandelion Tour, which is due to stop in Gilford, New Hampshire, on 30 July 2026.
