Elon Musk has intensified his ongoing feud with Christopher Nolan's blockbuster The Odyssey by announcing on X that his AI tool Grok Imagine will produce a "full-length" and "historically accurate" film version of Homer's epic poem before the end of 2026. The claim drew scrutiny given that Homer's tale is mythology rather than history, making any "historically accurate" adaptation a questionable proposition. It is the latest escalation in Musk's months-long campaign against Nolan's film, which has largely focused on attacking its casting choices.

Musk shared an AI-generated short clip to accompany the announcement, and separately said he was "down" to fund a $100 million Mel Gibson-directed Odyssey adaptation delivered in ancient Homeric Greek, responding to a suggestion from another X user. He has previously criticised Lupita Nyong'o's casting as Helen of Troy and endorsed transphobic comments about Elliot Page's casting as Sinon. Despite the backlash, Nolan's Odyssey has been a major box office success, with a global take of $263.7 million and a $20 million Tuesday projection that could see it surpass Nolan's The Dark Knight; the Universal film stars Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson and others.
