Elon Musk has escalated his campaign against Christopher Nolan's blockbuster adaptation of The Odyssey by vowing that his AI chatbot Grok will produce its own "historically accurate" feature-length version of Homer's epic before the end of 2026. Musk posted the pledge on X on Wednesday, accompanied by a three-minute AI-generated short made by a follower using the Grok Imagine tool, continuing his months-long public feud with Nolan over the film's casting choices.

Musk's objections date back to January, when reports emerged that Lupita Nyong'o would play Helen of Troy, and in May he endorsed a racially charged comment from a far-right commentator criticising her casting. He also condemned rumours that trans actor Elliot Page would play Achilles, despite Page actually portraying a different character, Sinon, in Nolan's film. Judging by the AI-generated clip shared so far, Musk's version appears to feature an all-white cast, while Nolan's film, shot largely on Imax with minimal CGI, has been widely praised and topped the box office.
