The tradition began at a 1995 concert at São Paulo's Arena Anhembi, with John performing the track at all 18 subsequent Brazilian shows before Monday's gig. Originally released on his 1969 debut album Empty Sky, the song became popular in Brazil after featuring in the 1970s telenovela Carinhoso. Monday's performance, positioned just before closing number "Your Song," was the song's first outing since 2019 and came during John's first Brazilian concert since 2017, as part of a rare live appearance following the end of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour in 2023.
